Promoting Gender Equality in National Responses to HIV/AIDS

Pangaea’s Vice President of Research and Programs, Dr. Megan Dunbar, is presenting at a policy event in Washington, DC “Promoting Gender Equality in National Responses to HIV/AIDS, ” co-organized by the International Council for Research on Women, Pangaea and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. 

New Report Calls on the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, & Malaria to Strengthen Investments in People Most Affected by the Diseases in New Strategic Plan

Today the Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation released its evaluations of the Gender Equality (GES) and Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity (SOGI) Strategies of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. The report concludes that the Global Fund's new 5-year strategy being considered in Ghana this week, must incorporate evidence-driven strategies to meet the needs of people most affected by the three diseases - and often the most neglected in public health responses to date.

After gathering valuable feedback over the past month, the surveys regarding The Global Fund's Gender Equality and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Strategies are now closed.  We want to thank everyone who responded to the surveys and the participants in our open consultations at the The Global Fund Partnership Forum in Sao Paulo, as well as those who participated in one-on-one interviews.  By sharing your experiences you have helped shape The Global Fund's strategy for the next five years.

As announced on May 11, 2011, Pangaea is supporting the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in conducting formative evaluations of their Gender Equality (GE) and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identify (SOGI) Strategies. 
 
As part of this effort, Pangaea will be leading a series of open consultations on these strategies during the week of the 2011 Global Fund Partnership Forum that is being held at the Sheraton Hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil at the end of June.  If you are not able to attend any of the open consultation sessions, we would like to encourage you in participating in our online surveys which are linked below:

Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation to Conduct Formative Evaluations of the Global Fund Gender Equality and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Strategies

Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation is pleased to announce its role in supporting the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to conduct formative evaluations of their Gender Equality (GE) and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identify (SOGI) Strategies.

The two strategies, approved by the Global Fund Board in 2008 and 2009 respectively, require the completion of a formative evaluation in 2010, which links to this year’s Global Fund Partnership Forum taking place in Brazil at the end of June, and to the organization’s current five-year strategy development process.
