Chris Seebregts, PhD
Dr. Chris Seebregts is Lead Health Technology Consultant for Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation and works with the Pangaea team to identify opportunities where the application of new technologies can lead to improved health outcomes in HIV, TB and Malaria prevention, care and treatment. Dr. Seebregts is also Senior Manager in Biomedical Informatics Research in the e-Health Research and Innovation Platform at the South African Medical Research Council, an honorary Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the Executive Director of Jembi Health Systems, all based in South Africa.
He has postgraduate degrees in medical biochemistry, computer science and software engineering and has worked both in the public and private sectors in biomedical and informatics research, information technology management and information systems development.
Dr. Seebregts main areas of interest are the design and development of health information systems, biomedical informatics, and using technology to track and reduce HIV/AIDS treatment failure. Present activities include research, development and implementation of e-Health architectures for developing countries to improve primary health care delivery systems, and the application of similar systems to improve antiretroviral treatment for HIV/AIDS infection in Africa.
