Policy & Advocacy

Pangaea’s policy and advocacy strategies are designed to foster supportive national and international policy environments for improving HIV services for marginalized, vulnerable groups.  Specific approaches include;

  • Providing guidance to legislators to support HIV strategies for marginalized, vulnerable populations, summarizing evidence-informed and human rights-based best practices
  • Mobilizing civil society coalitions to provide high-impact advocacy on key issues affecting marginalized, vulnerable groups with governments and international institutions
  • Forging public private partnership strategies to address major long-term strategic challenges and opportunities in the global AIDS response (primarily treatment and new prevention technologies)

 Current programs include

  • Guidance to parliamentarians on human rights-based approaches to providing comprehensive HIV services to men who have sex with men (MSM) in resource poor settings
  • Mobilizing combined HIV, Sexual & Reproductive Health, and Maternal Child Health civil society coalitions to advocate for increased funding and political commitment at the Heads of Government level on the HIV and women’s health Millennium Development Goals.
